Academic Achievement
Students suited to the full-time classes will need to demonstrate advanced achievement significantly beyond grade level. Student academic profiles are monitored using database which is updated throughout the year.
Reading age: two or more years above chronological age shown by
• Torch Reading Comprehension test (9th stanine)
• Reading Progress Test
• Neales Reading Analysis
• In class reading level testsSpelling age: 2 or more years advanced measured by Standardised Spelling Assessments: South Australian, Daniels and Diack, Waddington; in class spelling tests.
Advanced Writing: sample as measured by “First Steps” Phase Descriptors. UNSW International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) results in English, Writing, Spelling Competitions (Distinction or High Distinction).
Mathematics • Progressive Achievement Tests (P.A.T.) in Mathematics : 9th Stanine
• Diagnostic Maths Tests and in class, end of semester tests.
• UNSW ICAS Competition Results in Mathematics (Distinction or High Distinction)
Other • UNSW ICAS Competition Results in Science and Computing (Distinction or High Distinction)
• Queensland year 3,5,7,9 tests (scores well above the norm)
• Australian Primary Talent Search (APTS)
• Semester report cards demonstrating above average ability.
• Other credible sources that identify cognitive or academic ability
