Personal Identifiers
As well as cognitive and academic identifiers, a student’s personal identifiers, preferences and interests are considered before any program placement is made. These include:
• Academic motivation
• Enjoyment of school and willingness to be included in self-contained class
• Comfortable in competitive situations
• Intellectual curiosity
• Accepting of others
• Secure self esteem and is self-accepting
• Preference of challenging, fast-paced work
• Ability to work with small groups of like ability
• Ability to work independently
• Wide-ranging interests
• Actively involved in a variety of activities and hobbies outside of school.
• Pursuit of academic work outside of school time.
