Learning Support

The College operates a successful Learning Support program, Prep to Yr 10, staffed by trained teachers, aides and parent helpers.Fundamental to our program is the early identification of learning and developmental needs so that a planned strategy of support can be implemented.

Early Intervention:
The Early Intervention Program occurs during lower Primary years. As soon as concerns are identified, children are assessed and either put on an internal program or referred to an external professional.

Reading Re-discovery starts for those children in Year 1 who need reading support. Parents partner in the successful program, which continues as long as necessary. If children continue to require support, other programs are set up for groups according to need.

The RWI program is being implemented in Years 1 and 2 with selected students in Year 3 to teach all children correct practice in reading and writing.

Standardised Maths screening tests in Years 1 and 2.

Standardised Testing:
Standardised language and maths tests in years 4 – 7 are used to track student needs as well as their development over time. These also expose high levels of comprehension. Those children with exceptional levels may be included in the ECHO Inc programs.
Our aim in Learning Support is to identify developmental issues as early as possible and work with children to address problem areas for as long as they require assistance.Children with Disabilities are assessed for inclusion on the EAP system where the appropriate level of support can be given through the assistance of teacher aides. This enables the child to access learning and achieve a moderate level of success in life.Years 4 – 7:
