The Hillcrest Dance Academy was started in 2008 with a small number of pioneering students and has quickly expanded to accommodate for over 100 students.

It is so exciting to see how far the students have come in both confidence and technique in this short amount of time.

Students learn choreography and work on performance skills which gives them the opportunity to expand their abilities, skills, confidence and relationships with peers. 

By taking dance classes children learn to work in groups, work by themselves, musicality, discipline, proper posture, alignment and awareness of their bodies, these are just some of the benefits of dance.

Students gain  confidence in themselves not only physically, but mentally as well. Dance classes create an opportunity for children to excel outside the normal academic classroom.

At the end of every Semester  the students at Hillcrest Dance Academy participate in a dance production. Last year they preformed in Term 1 at the All school assembly , Term 2 in the Dance Showcase- Broadway night , Term 3 in the school fete and in Term 4 there end of year concert “Dance Fusion”. Students have a sense of accomplishment as they display the skills they have gained and have friends and family see them perform. These concerts are open to all parents, friends, relatives, and the community.

The Dance Academy offers classes in the following genres & age groups.

Jazz- Prep, Yr 1-2, Yr 5-7
Ballet- Prep, Yr 1-2, Yr 3-4, Yr 5-7, Yr 8 & Up
Hip Hop Yr 2-4, Yr 5-8
Musical Theatre- Yr 1-4, Yr 5-7

We are so excited to be able to offer Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop & Musical Theatre this year and are taking expressions of interest in Contemporary and Tap. We plan to have these classes available in Term 2 or Semester 2. Please send an email or phone the Dance Academy if you would like to express interest.  

Required Dance Attire for Classes are as follows:

Ballet- Black or Navy exam leotard, pink ballet tights and full sole canvas or leather pink ballet shoes
Jazz & Musical Theatre- Black or Navy exam leotard, exercise or ¾ shorts, jazz slip on shoes, optional singlet
Hip Hop- Casual clothing at own discretion which must be appropriate.
Please ensure your child comes to each class prepared as this is the responsibility of both student and parent.

Cost is $10 per class and paid each term. If a child is enrolled in more than 2 classes (1 must be Ballet) fees will be discounted to $8 per class.
