ESL is offered as a timetabled subject (ie. online) at Hillcrest Christian College. Unlike ELICOS colleges, where students are removed from mainstream English speaking students, students are immersed in an English-speaking environment from their first day. This language saturation strategy improves their listening and speaking skills at a much-increased rate. Upon arrival, students are assessed and appropriately placed into one of our three ESL classes, wherein more concentrated and specialist tuition is provided for them. These classes are:

  •  Elementary (ESL A)

  •  Intermediate (ESL B)

  •  Advanced (ESL C)

Students with advanced language ability may enter the mainstream course without ESL support. The aim of our ESL program is to prepare and move students into the mainstream as soon as they are ready. A further language support subject is also available to students. International Student Support classes (ISS), provide students with a forum in which they can receive assistance with their homework and assignments.
